2014 Iowa Teacher of the Year: Jane Schmidt
Gov. Branstad announces 2014 Iowa Teacher of the Year
Jane Schmidt, a longtime teacher known for her leadership, her ability to connect with students, and her commitment to improvement, is the 2014 Iowa Teacher of the Year, Gov. Terry Branstad announced in Maquoketa.“Great teachers make a world of difference for their students, for their colleagues and for their communities,” Branstad said. “The Lt. Governor and I congratulate Jane Schmidt, who is a true role model for both students and teachers.”
Schmidt,
a 33-year teaching veteran from Delmar, is an eighth-grade literacy and
language arts teacher at Maquoketa Middle School in the Maquoketa

Sunshine Preschool and Daycare Fundraiser
Thursday, October 17th from 5pm-close - Help support Sunshine School by placing an order from Pizza Hut (dine in or carry out) and Sunshine will receive up to 20% of the total sales. This is our annual fundraiser to help cover costs of field trips, assemblies, and upkeep of playground. It is also a REALLY FUN TIME!!! Get your teams of 8-10 people together! Our table theme this year is YOUR FAVORITE SONG. Cost is $10/person (must be 18 to participate). Please let me know if you need a form or stop by Cardinal School to grab one. All forms are due no later than October 4th. If you are unable to come but would like to support our students, we are looking for businesses and organizations to donate items/baskets for our silent auction. Doors open at 6 and trivia will be from 7-10. You may bring your own drinks/coolers but no hard liquor or food please. Sandwiches /snack trays will be available to purchase. Hope to see you there!!!!

Little Bear Park II - Officially OPEN
A community pulled together to volunteer in many ways getting our Little Bear Park renovated.
Lots of hard work and HOT days as well.
I enjoyed showing up every few days to cover the Volunteers working so hard with Photos and Video.
