Maquoketa Chamber sells its building
The Maquoketa Chamber of Commerce has sold its building and plans to move into the Maquoketa Arts Experience Building across Main Street.
Healing Arts Therapeutic Massage bought the building at 117 S. Main St. for $30,000, according to Chamber Executive Director Tom Devine. He said plans call for the chamber to move into the arts facility at 124 S. Main St. in 60 days. Healing Arts was located at 124 W. Platt St. The business is owned by Dena Donatsch.
Devine said renovations have begun at the arts building to accommodate the chamber offices.
Devine said the chamber and arts group will remain separate entities but will be housed in one building.

Maquoketa Art Experience (MAE) is pleased to announce that Nancy
Kilburg has been hired to immediately fill the newly created part-
time position of Education Liaison for MAE. Bob Osterhaus,
president of MAE, stated “Nancy’s background in education as a
school social worker for the past 25 years and her commitment to
MAE make her eminently qualified to fill this new position. She has
a keen awareness of the partnership(s) necessary for the schools
and the community to create an efective life-long learning environment for all ages.” The goal of the liaison is to expand MAE educational programs,
enhance MAE partnerships with schools, art teachers, aspiring artists and local communities and organizations. MAE is working to make wide-ranging arts education programs and art opportunities available to all in the region, with the aim of strengthening interest, enjoyment, and participation in the arts. By fostering the presence of art and artists in our community we accomplish our mission to “See, Meet and Create”. This new position is supported in part by a recently received Job Creation Grant from the IOWA DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS in the amount of $4998.00.

The Ninth Annual Festival of Trees
Beginning Saturday, November 16, through Tuesday, November 26, 2013
You are invited to a special “Thank You Open House”, Friday November 1 from 4 PM through 7 PM in the Drew Arts Gallery at the Ohnward Fine Arts Center. The gallery will be in holiday décor with paintings, jewelry, and many holiday gift items. If you have not had time to make a tree or wreath for the Festival of Trees fund raiser and would like to be a sponsor, items will be available to purchase. During the 4 through 7 PM time all Ohnward holiday items will be 10% off their regular price! Enjoy free hors d'oeuvres, and apple cider.
The Ohnward Fine Arts Center is currently planning our ninth Annual Festival of Trees. Last year, we had such a wonderful response to our festival -- with bidding on creative trees and beautiful wreaths, theatre entertainment, Santa, students and adults singing, piano, violin and bell players that we are adding even more activities to the Festival of Trees 2013! Our goal again this year is to create a holiday atmosphere to be enjoyed by all those attending the many functions that will be held at the Center. The proceeds will go to the Ohnward Fine Arts Center.
In fact during the Festival of Trees make plans to attend “The Second Annual Jackson County Holiday Extravaganza Variety Show” running Saturday, November 23 at 7 PM and Sunday, November 24 at 2 PM.
Trees and wreaths will be featured at the Fine Arts Center November 16th through November 26th. The Center will be open Monday thru Friday 9 am to 7 pm and Saturday and Sunday 1 PM to 7 PM.
Also available this year, for the very first time! You can purchase a Holiday Family Gift Pass. This pass offers you four passes (tickets) to any of our 2014 Ohnward Fine Arts Center productions. Easy to use and you save money! Each Holiday Family Gift Pass is just $80. Simply call 563-652-9815 between 9 AM and 1 PM or just stop into the Ohnward Fine Arts Center at 1215 E.
