Sixteen hearty souls showed up last night for the first Community Clean-Up event sponsored last night and every Tuesday night moving forward by the Maquoketa Area Chamber of Commerce. The group focused solely on Main Street and spent the one hour sweeping, picking up trash, pulling weeds and trimming grass in preparation for the Jackson County Fair parade tonight. City street cleaners are on the job this morning putting finishing touches on welcoming the large crowds anticipated for the kickoff of the County Fair.
The Maquoketa Area Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring this clean-up event each and every Tuesday night, rain or shine from 6:30 to 7:30. Meet at the Chamber Office inside the Maquoketa Art Experience and bring brooms, shovels, gloves and energy!
